Stickpea Flowers 朱缨花 Outside Satay by the Bay

Spotted this unique stickpea flowers outside Satay by the Bay with bees pollinating flowers. Stickpea which is commonly known as"powder puff" or "fairy dust" flowers belong to the Calliandra genus. These tropical flowering plants with striking red  

powder-puff like flower heads that have long vibrant abundant stamens protruding from the centre. blooms that resemble fireworks. They are member of the Fabaceae (legume) family and is native to Suriname and tropical South America.

朱缨花（Calliandra haematocephala Hassk.），豆科朱缨花属的多年生木本植物，枝条扩展，小枝褐色；叶片呈卵状披针形；头状花序腋生，花冠淡紫红色；荚果线状倒披针形，暗棕色，果瓣外反；种子长圆形，棕色；花期8—9月；果期10—11月。 [7]朱缨花花朵外形奇特，像红缨枪头那一扎红一样，故得名。 [8]
